The seminar addressed some of the most important events and developments of a global and regional dimension that have contributed decisively to the formation of the structure of the international system since the end of the Second World War. Among others, the wars in Korea and Vietnam, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the partition of India, the Suez Crisis, the Iranian Revolution, the rise of Japan and China, the establishment of new regional and collective actors (e.g. the United Nations, OPEC and the EU) and other events and factors that led to the end of the Cold War will be analysed. For the time since the early 1990s we will look at, inter alia, the international dimensions of German Reunification, the events of 9/11 and the “War on Terror”, achievements and challenges of European integration and the wars in Iraq, Ukraine and the Middle East. The seminar will be taught in English. |
