In this colloquium we will look to applying theories, methods, and practical skills that have been learnt in the previous modules to a specific research-oriented question. The topics will draw from current research questions from courses completed as part of the MA (that is, from the MA BATS together with students from MA CEC) and we will look to emphasise the research skills and methods as well as approaches necessary towards the completion of the Masters thesis (which is, for most students, to be completed in the following semester). The colloquium is thus particularly concerned with strengthening and expanding topics and techniques pertaining to research in anglophone Literary Studies, Cultural Studies and Linguistics. In particular, students will gain insights into producing an overview of current research, including the evaluation of internet sources and other resources, and practice presenting the structural aspects of research. The exam requirement for this module comprises an annotated bibliography and oral presentations. |
