The paper wants to show, that the self-justification of Prexaspes in Her III 62,3-4 includes an allusion to the Persian belief in resurrection. For this purpose it compares apparent analogous statements in Homer's Iliad and it suggests an interpretation of Prexaspes' declaration in the wider context of Herodot's Histories. In this way the statement of Prexaspes is justified as a testimony for the existence of the belief in resurrection in Persia during the 5th century BC.
