Tackling uncertainties of GHG emissions from managed temperate peatlands  (  Dissertationsschrift  )
Land-use intensification has been recognised as a driver that increased GHG emissions in the past. However, up to today the quantification of GHG balances for peatlands is characterised by high uncertainties mainly resulting from a variety of land uses, an increased climate variability, and methodological deficits. This thesis confirmed that above all other factors, water level is of major importance for GHG mitigation in temperate peatlands. It outlines the magnitude of uncertainties induced by the other factors and gives recommendations on future study designs to tackle these uncertainties.<eng>
