The thesis constitutes an experimental study of waveguide lattices governed by a Schrödinger equation. A discussion of the general coupled mode theory is provided. Starting with a study of two-photon correlations in an optical chip performing the discrete fractional Fourier transform, it is also shown how photonic solids with flat bands enable the transfer of complex amplitude and phase information. As a major contribution, a PT-symmetric topological interface state is realized which suggests the robustness of topological transport against the introduction of certain gain/ loss distributions.<eng>
