The focus of this work is to use the hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) technology to dispose kitchen waste (KW)the main organic component of municipal solid waste. The aim of this work is to research the properties of main product KW-hydrochar, which is obtained by KW disposed in HTC process, and at the same time, explore the potential high-value utilization of KW-hydrochar, for instance, used as additive, catalyst and precursor. In addition, an eco-friendly pathway of transforming "waste to functional materials" are proposed.<eng>
