In China, the municipal solid waste has increased largely because of rapid urbanization. Solid State Anaerobic digestion (SSAD) technology is gaining increasing attention as an appropriate solution. This thesis is structured in seven chapters and three papers. In Paper I, the monitoring results of the industrial SSAD biogas plant showed the findings that formed the basis for further research. In Papers II and III, various factors were investigated, which influenced the VFA, CH4, efficiency and stability of SSAD. The results help to develop an efficient system to increase the methane yield.<eng>
