Die Heroides des Ovid sind eine Sammlung von fünfzehn unechten und im Versmaß der Liebeselegie verfassten Briefen. In diesen klagen verschiedenen mythische Frauengestalten ihren abwesenden Geliebten ihr Liebesleid (z.B. Penelope an Odysseus, Briseis an Achill, Dido an Aeneas, Ariadne an Theseus, Medea an Jason etc.). Im Seminar sollen produktions- und rezeptionsästhetische Aspekte dieser Briefe beleuchtet werden. Thematisiert werden daneben auch Fragen der Gattung "Brief".
