Abstract

Breath analysis is an interdisciplinary science that holds promise towards non-invasive clinical diagnosis by using exhaled volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Many years of research has failed to establish any disease specific VOC in clinical practice. Thus, we realized the importance of VOC concentration change over the existence of unique biomarker. As physiological factors may override actual pathophysiological effects on VOC exhalation and mislead clinical interpretation. Here, we investigated the importance of physiology on real-time breath analysis via series of studies on humans.
