Abstract

The aim of this thesis was to analyze the options of beef production on restored wetlands including the prospects and limits. Therefore, two grazing experiments were conducted from 2010 to 2013. The results of this thesis indicate that continuous stocking with common beef cattle on a pasture with a strong vegetation gradient only achieves poor liveweight gains. Water buffaloes as an alternative grazing animal have a general good potential for landscape preservation on restored wetlands.
